We are so fortunate to have met Dr Tonya about 4 years ago, when I had exhausted any remedies that I knew of that could help my then 2.5 year old child. Since then I know where to seek help when my family needs it.
Both of my kids benefit greatly from her treatments, healing from constipation issues to ear infections just to name a few.
I personally started seeing her after becoming pregnant with my second child and I have to say it made a huge difference in pregnancy discomfort and ease of delivery.
She is passionate, knowledgeable and caring. My kids trully love going to her and get adjusted. One of the best in the field.

Hi, Dr Tonya and thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview. I am certain that many readers will be positively influenced by your knowledge and will look to improve their lifes with the amazing chiropractic treatments you can offer to them.
1. How long have you been a chiropractor and what made you become one?
Hi everyone. I’m so excited to be able to be part of this professionals series. My name is Dr. Tonya Luby and I am a family chiropractor. I have been in practice for 20 years with a strong focus on pregnancy, infants, children and families.
I remember specifically the day that I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor. I was 14 years old and listening to a chiropractor speak at a career fair in my high school. I was completely drawn to a lifestyle of helping people, in a natural way, to reach their full health potential.
2. What exactly does a chiropractor do and when should someone consider seeing a chiropractor?
Chiropractic is an amazing profession.
For those of you who aren’t completely familiar with the premise, chiropractors actually work with a persons nervous system and spine to ensure that the body is operating at its full potential. Our brains communicate with our bodies through our nervous system. Our brain is continually telling our bodies how to heal, regulate, maintain and be adaptable to the stresses of life that we deal with every day.
When there is interference to this communication, then our bodies are not functioning as well as they potentially can. Chiropractors help remove the stress to the nervous system so that our bodies can heal, regulate and be as adaptable as possible.
Everyone can benefit from chiropractic care. In my practice I see people of all ages, including newborns. Sometimes the process of being born is also hard on the baby, not just on the mom.
3. Can you please share how you help women throughout a pregnancy period ?
Pregnancy is one of the most important times to seek chiropractic care. The mom’s body is changing rapidly from day to day, so being adaptable is more important than ever.
Chiropractic care during pregnancy has been shown to create a more comfortable pregnancy, reduce labor time and the need for interventions , as well as help the baby get into ideal birthing position.
4. Many parents bring their children right after birth and then they continue throughout their childhood, would you please share any specifics on treating babies and children ?
Many families choose chiropractic care for their children, starting in infancy. As we know, babies are developing rapidly in the first few years.
All of their growth and development is directed by their nervous system. Since Chiropractic care is aimed at reducing any interference to these messages it is helping children grow up to be as healthy as possible.
Chiropractors help remove the stress to the nervous system so that our bodies can heal, regulate and be as adaptable as possible.
5. For someone who has never seen a chiropractor before, what is one thing you wish they knew about chiropractic care?
There are many people who are completely unaware of how chiropractic works.
The one thing that I wish everyone knew is the Chiropractic can help you function at your optimal potential.
Another thing I wish people knew about chiropractic is that there are many different techniques that can be used, and that chiropractic care can be adapted to your specific state of health and needs.
For example, chiropractic care for infants and children is completely different from chiropractic care for adults. The amount of pressure required for chiropractic with an infant is similar to the amount of pressure you would put on a tomato to see if it is ripe.
6. You have a successful career as a chiropractor, but you are also a mom and a wife, how do you balance everything to stay happy and healthy ?
I truly believe that Chiropractic chose me. That being said, I am also a wife and mom.
I have three very active growing children and for all of you parents, you realize how challenging that can be. Chiropractic is a lifestyle choice. My children have received chiropractic care since they were born.
Everyday I choose to raise my family following the five fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle. These include exercise, real food, proper sleep, mental balance and of course, Chiropractic.
I will not say that it is always easy, but I also know that giving my children the healthiest start in their early years will also benefit them down the road.
7.Can you share a story or experience where you have enabled a positive change in a patient’s life ?
I have been very privileged to be in this profession for 20 years. I have cared for patients from infancy through to university years, from parenting to grandparenting years, and through all sorts of stages of life.
The most amazing thing about my profession is the relationships that I build with patients. I really care for these people and their families and I’m honored that they chose me to be their family chiropractor.
8.From your perspective, what’s one thing we can do today to start to feel better?
If there is one thing that I could tell people to help them get on the road to a healthier lifestyle ,it would be to set a realistic goal and then start taking small steps towards it, today.
Progress not perfection!
For example, start walking 10 minutes a day, substitute fruit for one snack a day, go to sleep a half an hour earlier and of course, book a chiropractic assessment to see how Chiropractic can help change your life.
The most amazing thing about my profession is the relationships that I build with patients. I really care for these people and their families and I’m honored that they chose me to be their family chiropractor.
